Since it’s founding in 1970, the Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agriculture University (popularly known HAU) has grown to become India’s flagship, research-led university, known for the excellence of its teaching, research, and extension to Haryana, national and international communities.
We have produced over 50,000 graduates and postgraduate students of Indian national and more than 6,000 students of international origin. These brilliant and devoted alumni, working in various fields such as academics, administration, corporate world, industry and the wider community, is an asset to the university, and their contributions and involvement significantly increase the reputation of the university nationally and internationally. Our research programmes range across all disciplines of agricultural sciences, basic sciences, Home/Community sciences, engineering and technology and we are national leaders in our agriculture extension, technology transfer, varietal development, incubation and entrepreneurs and integrated farming systems. The University offers quality market-oriented world class undergraduate and postgraduate courses which are relevant, value-added and affordable in a convenient, stimulating and challenging learning environment.
As we look to the future one thing is certain – knowledge will be a key resource and will be highly sought-after within India and around the world. Our challenge is to help to generate ideas that will benefit society, and to educate and train people to work in scientific and agricultural fields where they will be valued both for their specialised knowledge, and for their ability to research, communicate and solve problems.
To meet these challenges we need to build on the alliances and collaborative partnerships the University has established with farmers, business, industries, government, and other research institutions in India and abroad. It is equally important we keep close to our wider communities of interest within India and internationally. This will help to ensure the ongoing relevance of our academic programmes and the continued excellence of our teaching, research and extension. We know that Excellence is journey not a destination and as we opt for this long journey we may have to face many challenges. The encumbrance of turning these challenges into opportunities lies in reposing faith and commitment in ourselves in accomplishing this task.
Success comes frequently to CCS HAU Hisar: In 2016-17 the “Sardar Patel Outstanding ICAR Institution Award 2016” crowned a year which included high ranking of university in top ICAR Institution/university, winner of All India Agriculture sports meet 2017, Best University in Krishikosh, farmers earned prestigious national ICAR awards in 2016. Medals for our alumni and students, opening of a new building of College of Agriculture at Bawal, establishment of NABARD Agri-Business incubation Centre and ICAR accreditation for our College of Agriculture, Kaul are new feathers in the name of University. Success does indeed come frequently, but I know that it does not come 'easily' - it comes because of hard work and thoughtful endeavours of our hard working & talented faculties, devoted non teaching staff and brilliant students.
