I.C. College of Community Science

The  I C college of Community Science came into existence in 1973. It caters to the present day needs of education in order to meet the rapidly changing demands of family life and the multiple roles that woman has to play in home as well as professional life. Community Science is a unique field of knowledge. The college has five departments, namely, Apparel and Textile Science, Extension and Communication Management, Food and Nutrition, Human Development and Family Studies & Resource Management and Consumer Science. All these departments have well equipped laboratories. 

      The mandate of college is to empower woman at personal, professional, social, entrepreneurial and economic fronts through teaching, research and extension. The different areas of specialization concentrate on providing suitable training to the students for various job opportunities. The trained graduates and postgraduates are absorbed in hospitals, industrial units, hotel industries, and health fitness clubs. They can also work as teachers, counsellors, sales managers, apparel & interior designers, consultants and field workers in extension education and community development programmes. The College is offering B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes in all the disciplines. All faculty members have enriched themselves with Ph.D. degree and some of them have also received recognition at national and international levels for their achievements. Participation of faculty members in different trainings, short courses, summer institutes, workshops, seminars/conferences (both at national and international level) has also contributed towards improvement of faculty competence.

     In anticipation of the changing environment and also the changing skill sets of professionals in modern industries, the curricula has been revised to make it more relevant, holistic, contextual and specialized. The college offers facilities for academic excellence, cultural enrichment and physical fitness for the students to help them build a multifaceted personality and also prepares them to face the challenges that lie ahead.
