This University started Department of Food Science & Technology in September, 1996 to offer Master’s degree in Food Science & Technology under College of Basic Sciences & Humanities. The Centre of Food Science and Technology was established in May, 2002 and is working on different aspects of food processing, preservation and qualitycontrol. The main objectives of the Centre are to develop trained manpower and to standardize appropriate technologies for the food processing industry. The multidisciplinary team of faculty members is working consistently to improve the availability and quality of food. Teaching, research, training and extension activities are carried out in the Centre. Students at the Centre enjoy the combined advantages offered by the University programmes as well as the compulsory industrial training. At present, the Centre offers M.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes in Food Science and Technology. The passed out students from this Centre have either developed their own entrepreneurship or are well placed at various executive positions in different educational institutes and food industries. There is no UG programme going on in the Centre, however, it is offering one UG Course and one Food Processing Module to Undergraduate students of College of Agriculture at Hisar, Kaul and Bawal under Experiential Learning Programme.
