Training

Our agenda is simple:  “We work to improve and strengthen the practice of vocational education and training”

The belief that skills are key to achieve economic and social propriety underpins all of our work.

Agriculture skill will continue to hold the key to reduce poverty and unrising the security of livelihoods in many developing countries. The major challenges in terms of potential conflicts over increasing food and water security and the unpredictable long terms of effects of climate change continue to rant.Small farmers, NGOs, GO’s and policy makers in developing countries are all grapping with these challenges at different levels.

To deal with these issues the importance of training cannot be underestimated.  The skills to improve productivity, increase adaptability to deal with change and crises and facilitate the diversification of livelihood to manage risks are at a premium in rural areas.  Training is a process acquisition of new skills attitudes and knowledge in the context of preparing for entry into a vocation or improving ones productivity in an organization or enterprise.  Further training is directed towards improving the efficiency in farming activities that begins with need identification and after a number of steps ends with evaluation of the training actively. Designing a training and development programme involved a sequence of steps that can be grouped into five phases; need assessment, objections, design, implementation and evaluation.

In India, like other nations, the production practices and skills are passed from generation to generation.  This informal apprenticeship has worked well, however, there is strange need to build on this mentoring tradition.  This is where the programme for skill development became important. It is common to find the rural India several common agricultural practices being followed wrongly.  Now, are becoming aware about how to do things better.  We now understand that skill development aims at equipping us with skill sets to successfully and sustainably perform activities. Another important dimension of skilling is that it is not a one time activity or process.  Reskilling and upgration of skill is a continuous process.

Skill India is an initiative of the Government of India which has been launched to empower the youth of the country with skill sets which make them more employable and more productive in their work environment. Our National Skill Mission is chaired by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi himself. India is a country today with 65% of its youth in working age group. If ever there a way to reap this demographic advantage, it has to be through skill development of the youth so that they add not only to their personal growth, but to the country’s economic growth as well.
