Major contributions

The department is engaged in the three core activities of teaching, research and extension as an integrated system of education in the university. Since 1969, the department has produced 199 M.Sc. and 68 Ph.D students. So far 9 books, 16 Teaching cum Practical Manuals, 70 Technical Research Bulletins, 6 Extension Bulletins and about 32 other publications (articles, souvenirs, commemoration volumes etc.) have published by the faculty members of the department in addition to their valuable contribution of research papers /articles etc. in various national and international journals of repute.

The extension activities of the department are:

Establishment of demonstration centers and preparation of farm plans
Preparation of farm records and accounts for the farmers
Training programmes for the farmers on various economic enterprises
Organizing field days and demonstrations
Organizing campaigns
Carrying out economic analysis of adaptive research on farmers' field
District level trainings
Production of literature/ radio talk/TV talk
Advisory visits/ correspondence/ office calls etc
